Friendship Public Charter School

Funds raised through the CharityWorks GreenHouse will benefit the Friendship Public Charter School of Washington, D.C., the area’s largest public charter school serving more than 10% of all D.C. public school children. FPCS serves more than 4,000 students at five campuses. The school’s mission is to prepare a diverse cross-section of children for success as students, workers and citizens by providing them with a world-class education.

Nine out of ten students in the communities Friendship serves are born into poverty. Hunger, hopelessness and fear dominate their lives. But students enrolled in Friendship soar, consistently demonstrating significant academic gains across all grade levels. These students benefit from Friendship’s high-quality school design, caring teachers, 21st century technology, and strong connections to the community. The program is based on a philosophy of high academic standards for all students, regardless of their circumstances, and strict accountability to the communities served by the school.
In a city where there seem to be more incarcerations than graduations, these young people become lawyers, doctors, architects and entrepreneurs. We are proud to fund their dreams!
