GUEST SWEET

Give your guests the best and yourself an inspirational retreat for enjoying a book or a nap. Charlotte’s sophisticated pairing of buttercream and gray creates the canvas for an inspiring use of mottled tortoiseshell split bamboo as picture molding throughout the room. Further embellishing the special architecture of the room, two twin beds with tall half canopies will lend romance and symmetry to the mix. The central ceiling beam has a fully restored early 20th c. ceiling fan as its focal point. As further proof that eco-friendly design sacrifices nothing in style, the design for the space uses an original layering of old and new, antique and state-of-the-art “green” products. Hand-printed fabrics made with no chemical dyes will provide pattern and color while a sisal carpet adds texture and warmth to the rooms’ hospitality.

A native of South Carolina, Charlotte Lekakos of Willard and Palmer Design, has been in the design field for 25 years. Charlotte cultivated her love of classical art and design while living in Rome for several years. Her projects reflect her love for mixing family heirlooms with new pieces to create warm and lively interiors that are uniquely suited to the individual client. For each project, her goal is to create a comfortable and original expression of her clients’ own tastes and sensibilities. Before her career in design Charlotte worked as an Italian interpreter and translator. Charlotte lives in Chevy Chase, MD with her husband and two children, a menagerie of animals and a baby blue Vespa.
