Foyer and Galleries
Part art gallery and part introduction (to the home and the family living), the porch / foyer / hallway / stairs / upstairs-hall areas are treated as a passage through the lives of the inhabitants reflected through their art collection and other worldly possessions. We will start with the interior shell of all these spaces which will be designed to reference the Craftsman style architecture and location of the home using eco friendly wood, paint and stains. We then slightly shift gears in the décor and furnishings to represent a realistic collection of art, furniture and objets d’ art, made over time which means a mix of styles is in order. Not to mention, all the vintage and antique furnishings, while obviously green, will bring out such character and personality forcing the passerby to view the areas more as places to pause and reflect, rather than simply a through-passage. The exterior covered porch is furnished to be a calm and simple place to sit and take a breather before heading out or watch people passing by.
Raji is the founder and principal designer at Raji RM and Associates. Under Raji’s vision and leadership, the firm interprets modern design by elucidating the most applicable and useful factors from a mix of ideas, styles and regions. Raji’s work has been featured in Metropolitan Home which called her “…perhaps the brightest new interior design star in the Washington, D.C. area,” and in Washington Spaces, the Washington Post and numerous other design publications.
