Home Office

The CharityWorks GreenHouse home office is a cozy, forthright and stimulating place to concentrate on work while staying connected to what’s happening at home and around the world. Located at the top of a separate pavilion, this private home office affords an expansive view of the pool and terraces, making it easier to keep tabs on the family. Across one wall, the room features built-ins made from wood from sustainable forests. A shredding and recycling center is built into the space. The walls will be covered in natural raffia, with energy efficient LED lighting used in the cove. There is great art in the room, and two restyled chairs provide an eco-friendly place to enjoy it.

Skip Sroka is one of Washington’s most celebrated designers with a national reputation recently enhanced by the addition to the Newseum Presidential Exhibit of the “Ritz-y” Presidential dog house he designed in honor of President Obama’s new dog, Bo. Skip is a strong believer that we all need to leave the earth in the same condition as we found it and not harm the planet. “Being eco-friendly does not mean living on less, but sharing in the abundance of the Earth so that everyone can breathe clean air, drink good water, and live long, happy, healthy and productive lives.” Skip has been practicing interior design since graduating from Cleveland Institute of Art in 1977. He practices a design philosophy that emphasizes each client's personal tastes and lifestyle needs in order to achieve interiors that blend fine aesthetics with comfort and function. He feels that a new projects should look as if it has always been there; a design in context to its surroundings.
