The Wine Cellar
The first thing you want to think about for a wine cellar is how to maintain a consistent temperature to age your wine properly. Because we are looking at 55-58 degrees, an underground cellar is ideal. Unfortunately most homes today do not have a space with these conditions, so we naturally migrate to the use of refrigeration to cool the space. As a Green concept, we want to find the best way to cool the space naturally, without refrigeration. Using reclaimed materials can also add to the nostalgia of the cellar and keep us within our concept. Underground walls, materials and insulation become a key element to keeping a temperature down in a cellar. Stay tuned to see how we turn this not so ideal location into a space that keeps wine at a cooler temperature, using materials that are rarely used in a wine cellar.
